Calling all Machine knitters - take a look on the Scottish Machine Knitters website regarding a fabulous show to be held this coming Saturday, 17th May;
Dave Hampson "the Wool Man" will be at the show and would love to see you there - so please pop along and say hello. Lots of lovely yarn to buy.
The
Show this year is to be held at Rothes Halls in Glenrothes, on Saturday 17
May 2014 between 10am - 4pm. The Halls are a Conference and Entertainment
centre with a library and café situated at the western end of The Kingdom
Shopping Centre beside the Marchmont Gate and Rothes Square. For people
relying on a Sat Nav for travel directions please note the post code of the
Centre is KY7 5NX. Tickets will cost £5 at the door.
The
Show will take place in the large hall on the ground floor where you will find
all the stalls. Most of the stallholders who came last year will be there
and a few new ones. The Hands-on area will contain a SMK stall with a display,
demonstrations and help with Machine Knitting. Loving Hands will be
demonstrating Hand Knitting and Crochet.
The
Fashion Event named "Fashion in Detail" organised by
Carolyn Lambert and also various Talks will be upstairs: there are lifts
to take you upstairs. There will be no additional charge for entry to
these events.
Two competitions have been arranged for
the show this year. The first will be a "Novelty Hat" Competition,
these hats will be displayed on the stand during the day. The second
competition called "All my own Work" is for the best
garment worn to the show. These competitions will be open to anyone
attending the show and there will be no charge for entry, so please have a go -
you could win! Your entry must be mostly knitted, but can include other
crafts and should be of an original design. Entries will be recorded
at the Hands-on area by Mrs Jill Lothian until 11-30am prompt on 17 May,
together with written details of the construction, any arriving late will not
be included in the judging. Jill will provide you with an entry
form. The winners will be announced during the Show and prizes awarded.
The
Halls management have agreed to set up a stall selling snacks inside the hall
which should make it easier for everyone to buy refreshments. There is a café
just beside Reception in the Rothes Halls which serves hot food until 2pm and
others in the shopping complex and also bakers selling rolls etc. (No-one is
allowed to eat their own food within the Rothes Halls.) There are several
Banks in the shopping complex where you will find cash machines.
