http://www.ukhandknitting.com/

Wow take a look at the UKHKA Knitted Textiles Awards 2011 where there is some amazing talent on show.  The winner was Katie Jones with some very impressive crochet.  Looking through I had a few favourites; Genevieve Sweeney who came second and Felicity Thomas who won the Erika Knight Award.

Hannah Taylor who also came second with her fabulous wacky fashion designs.

Simply Knitting - October

Shop of the Month in the latest issue of Simply Knitting is "Marjory's Wool Shop" 120 Holmlea Road, Glasgow G44 4AW, telephone 0141 649 4599.

Marjory listed her top 5 bestsellers of which four were from Thomas B Ramsden.  Listed were the Peter Pan baby range, Twilleys Freedom Sincere and Wendy's Mode and Merino yarns.  Marjory commented "We specialise in stocking branded names that people want, .. high quality wools and have a large selection for people to choose from".

A yarn store that is founded on the love and joy of knitting.  Well done Marjory.

The Knitter - Issue 35 - September

We have a wonderful Vintage pattern featured in The Knitter magazine leaflet 99 from 1958.

The Knitter very kindly adapted the pattern from three sizes to 32in up to 46in.  Originally the pattern used Wendy Fashionfleck DK but the updated version used Twilleys of Stamford Freedom Spirit in Hope 521.

The pattern has a very elegant neckline and I am sure you will agree looks lovely.

Thank you to The Knitter.

If anyone knits it up please send a photograph - Happy Knitting.

HATS FOR HEROS

Betty and Adrian Topping of The Irish Wool Store  presented in excess of 1,000 hats to a Major and Captain of 1 Mercian Regiment who are currently serving in Afghanistan

The above photographs are from the press - with the Mayor presenting the consignment of hats to the above officers.

Thomas B Ramsden made a yarn donation of Robin DK for this project and Adrian was overwhelmed by the response they received from volunteers knitting for this very worthwhile project.

Well done to everyone.
